Well, I’ve been away from this blog for far too long…

After several months of not posting or updating, I’m finally going to be posting some new articles and information here at EasyTurnkeyHomeBusiness.com.

So, what kept me away for so long?

Well, my web design and coaching businesses were going through the roof, and I decided to focus my time and energy where I was making the most money.

Also, I’ve been checking out a few companies in the interim, going through products, compensation plans, management, etc. - thought I may have had a winner a few times, but I was wrong…

It’s Always Nice To Find A Company Doing Things Right…

At least, until recently. I actually came across a health products company that I had never heard of while researching another company I was writing an article about. After finishing the research on the first article, I decided to go back and research the other company further.

At first blush, it looked like a real winner. Great unique product line, awesome testimonials for the product, lots of research to back it up, experienced leadership, founders with deep pockets (to carry the company through the rocky early stages - they’re only a few years old so this was a very important consideration for me), sterling reputation, etc.

More Than Once Bitten, Ten Times As Shy

However, I’ve been let down with some companies before, and I didn’t want to get my hopes up prematurely with this one. Some people are prone to saying things like, “It’s not the company, product, or opportunity - it’s the distributor,” blah, blah, blah.

But let me tell you, when you fail because the company you’ve invested all your sweat and tears into lowers the quality of their product to increase profits, abandons the core values they were founded on, and leaves their distributors high and dry - that has nothing to do with the distributor.

So, I pretty much decided to take it nice and slow with company “X”, to make sure it was “the one” before I made a commitment of time, energy, and money.

The Scoop Thus Far…

I’ve been on their products for two months now, and I have been very pleased with the results. So, as far as the products go, in my book they’re a winner.

What’s impressed me even more, however, is the fact that my every experience with this company so far has been positive. Everything they do is top-notch, from the customer service, to the quality and consistency of the products, to the packaging, to the order fulfillment, to the company website, to the training and recruiting materials. Just 100% professional and well done.

Most importantly, for me at least, is the fact that I’ve never felt that I should have any reservations with introducing these products and this company to anyone - not once. They’re such a class act in fact, I’ve already shared the products with several people I know.

Checks… On Time… Every Month… What A Surprise!

And, I’ve gotten a check from the company every single month, like clockwork, for three months straight (I guess got some sort of a quick start bonus at first, because I can’t figure out how I got three checks in two months - go figure, but I’m not complaining).

Frankly, from the size of my checks in proportion to my pitiful little downline, I’m really amazed at how much I’ve made so far. It’s not a lot, but considering how many people I’ve recruited (just one) I’m surprised to even be getting paid this much this early in the game.

At any rate, I decided early this week that I was going to focus my efforts on this company and opportunity. I love the products, the people are great, and I believe this company is going to be around for a long, long time.

Okay, I Won’t Keep You In Suspense Any Longer

Web Prosperity went live yesterday… I went ahead and signed up so I could check out the products and features of the service, to evaluate just what they’re offering.

So far, here’s my assessment:

  1. Autoresponders - The interface is really very easy to use, and creating a campaign and lead capture form was as simple as any other autoresponder service. However, the company website states that you may only have one other campaign besides the default (WebProsperity) campaign. So, while the product seems to be adequate at first blush, this may not be the best solution if you’re looking to replace your current autoresponder system or if you need to have multiple campaigns. Moving autoresponder accounts is a hassle anyway, so no big deal for me.
  2. Multimedia - Image upload and the gallery creation system worked fine, easily as good as Flickr. So far, however, I have not been able to upload any video - and I tried uploading both .AVI and .MOV files with no luck. In fact, the .MOV files crashed the browser tab. Obviously, this is something they are going to be working with; it’s only the second day of launch, so I expect some snafus. As for audio, I haven’t tried it yet… more on that later when I have time to check it out.
  3. Web conferencing - Ditto on what I said about audio… more info will be posted later.
  4. Calendar - Appears to work just fine - easy to create events and track appts.
  5. Contacts - Same as the calendar, easy to use and a nice simple interface.
  6. Finder function - Will be active once the downline is established.

Once they get the kinks worked out, I’d say the service will be worth the cost and then some. However, due to the fact that you are limited in how many autoresponder campaigns you can create (based on the company website), I’d say this is more suited to someone who wants to build a business around Web Prosperity than it is for someone who just wants to use the provided tools to promote other aspects of their business.

Perry Marshall just posted a great little article on his blog regarding the recession and what effect, if any, it has on niche businesses:

Perry’s recent post

I agree wholeheartedly with Perry’s assessment - building niche businesses from home is a fine way to insulate yourself from the ravages of economic recessions.

And, I thank God that I decided to invest in building my niche business up last year, because it’s allowed us to weather the storm while staying in “business as usual” mode.

Have you started your niche business yet? What’s stopping you from starting a work at home business? There’s no better time than the present to start building your financial future.

Envelope stuffing is a scam.

Envelope stuffing is a scam.

I hate work-at-home scams.

That’s why I just created a new Squidoo lens on work from home stuffing envelopes scams.

The lens is designed to capture web traffic from people who are looking for jobs stuffing envelopes (which are always rip-offs) and then explain why these so-called opportunities are bogus.

Hopefully, it’ll help keep some innocent people from getting ripped off.

If you’re a Squidoo fan or publisher, do me a favor and check out my new Squidoo lens, then rate it or add a blurb to my page:

Ebook publishing is one of my favorite ways to make money from home, hands down. And although I make a significant portion of my income selling electronic products, I actually got into selling ebooks almost by accident…

Back in 2003-2004, I sold an offline business that I had run for many years. The business was very successful, but I was burned out and stressed out, and needed a change. After one of my employees purchased the business from me, I suddenly had a ton of time on my hands and no idea what to do with myself.

Well, one of the side effects of running that business was that I had developed some very strong opinions regarding the industry I had been a part of for the previous ten years or so… opinions that I felt very, very passionate about.

I felt that people in my industry (martial arts) were getting ripped off by “the powers that be”, and had come to this conclusion after some very negative personal experiences of my own dealing with the so-called experts in that industry.

I had remembered a buddy of mine told me once that I had a lot to share, and that I should start writing. So I did. I sat down and took the advice of Matthew Woodring Stover and started writing 1,000 words a day, minimum (to clarify, he’s not the buddy who encouraged me to write, but his tips on writing in the back of “Heroes Die” were very helpful).

Tip: What you’re going to find when you research starting an ebook publishing business is that nearly all the experts agree on one thing… You should write about something you’re passionate about.

It just makes it a whole heck of a lot easier to get started when you choose write about something you enjoy or feel strongly about.

After you’ve finished your first book, you’ll find it easier to write on other topics - but to get a strong start, pick something that you know and enjoy. - MM

It was easy - I had a lot of opinions on how to start and run a martial arts school, ideas that were original and that definitely went against the commonly held beliefs of the time.

After I finished it, the book was 217 pages long… and I had no idea what I was going to do with it.

Shortly thereafter, I started looking at finding a publisher. But, the chances of actually getting published by a major publishing house are extremely low, especially in niche markets. That meant going with a smaller imprint, which also meant less exposure for my book.

Not to mention that writers who publish by going the traditional route are often paid pathetically low commissions on their own material. Usually in the realm of 8-15% of net sales (net is profit, so on a $10 book, the net may only be $4 or $5… so the writer would get .40 to .50 cents per book sold - a pittance).

It didn’t take long for me to conclude that self-publishing was going to be the best route to take.

Now, I had a decision to make… publish in print, electronically, or both? I chose both, published the book myself, got it copyrighted with the United States Copyright Office, put up a website to start selling it, and the rest is history.

Well, not really… It didn’t exactly take off like a rocket.

Oh, the book was a phenomenal hit with the people who initially bought copies… The only thing was, promoting it turned out to be a real challenge.

It took me a few years (yes, years) to get really good at all the things that go into promoting information products online:

  • search engine optimization and promotion,
  • copywriting,
  • list building,
  • and online marketing

But once I did, I really started to see some profits from my efforts. Yay, money!

It all worked out in the end, of course. The book ended up selling really well, and after some initial resistance from the industry, it has become widely accepted as one of the top resources on my chosen topic.

But if I had it to do all over again, I’d have found someone who has been really successful selling small reports and ebooks, and just copy what they did to start their ebook publishing business.

Someone like Jimmy D. Brown. In fact, I’d have to say that I’d follow his system exactly - to the letter.

So, if you’re interested in getting on the fast track to creating a nice supplemental income selling your own ebooks, you should check out Jimmy’s site and find out how he makes a nice living selling small reports.
